In order to catch a leprechaun, you have to be a lot smarter, so you’re not tricked by him. He will easily escape if given the slightest chance, so if you don’t look at him for just one second he will disappear and you will not find him again.
If you do manage to catch a leprechaun you can get his pot of gold if you threaten him or you can get three wishes. He will try to bribe you with a gold coin and if you do manage to get the three wishes from him he will do everything he can so that your wishes will go wrong.
It is said that a lot of men that tried to outsmart a leprechaun went insane while thinking of their three wishes or they had them backfire once they decided on something to wish for.
One of the stories mentions a man named Seamus which wished that he was on an Ireland which is tropical and the richest man. Once he did have his wishes, he found out that he was the only man on that island and he had no place where he could spend his money and no people to talk with. In order to get back home he had to use his last wish.
The leprechaun should never be listened to, since they will try to confuse you and make you wish the wrong things. They are known to be devious creatures, but while some people say that they are usually angry, others say that they are quite friendly, but just don’t like that humans try to take their pot of gold or make them grant wishes.
A lot of people that want to catch a leprechaun get into a lot of trouble, so you might be better off letting him go if you see him.
